Win Butler of Arcade Fire has been accused of sexual assault by four distinct women.
Of the four accusers, three were ardent followers of the group.
Butler and singer Regine Chassange of Arcade Fire have been wed for almost 20 years.
Although he has refuted the abuse claims, he has not refuted having a relationship with the accusers.
Butler blames his adultery on a depressive episode during which he self-medicated with booze.
For the story, four ladies who all used aliases were interviewed. They interacted with Butler when they were between the ages of 18 and 23. He ranged in age from 36 to 39.
One of the ladies allegedly made an overdose of medications in an attempt at suicide after one of the claimed instances of wrongdoing.

Pitchfork reports that family interviews and an examination of Butler’s texts and social media posts were used to support the alleged victims’ statements.
Butler, 42, has been wed to vocalist Regine Chassange of Arcade Fire since 2003. In 2001, they came together to form the band. The pair have a son.
“I know what is in his heart, and I know he has never, and would never, touch a woman without her consent,” Butler’s wife stated in a statement.
Butler explained his infidelity in a statement to the website as the result of a depressive episode for which he was using alcohol as self-medication. The lead singer claimed that his wife’s miscarriage was a contributing factor in the sadness.
I have had consensual encounters outside of my marriage,’ Butler wrote. There is no simple way to explain this, and having to tell my kid this is the toughest thing I have ever done.
His wife knew that their relationship had been “more unusual than some,” he claimed.
Butler continues, “Any inference that I have touched a lady against her consent is simply wrong. I have never done so.”
The following is a portion of his wife’s statement: “I know what is in his heart, and I know he has never, and would never, touch a woman without her consent and I am convinced he never did.” He was lost, but now he is back on track.
I love him and the life we have built together, it continued.
